How-to: the rope braid

The rope braid is where it’s at.

We don’t need to tell you how killer a good set of braids look.

REDKEN Australia’s Hair Director Richard Kavanagh is giving us the low down on how to mix up the braid game. Say goodbye to the boring Frenchy, the rope braid is where it’s at.

Showcased on Cynthia Rowley’s MBFWA runway, this Resort inspired ’do is easy surprisingly easy. Here’s how to get the look:

  1. On clean, damp hair, layer GUTS 10 Volume Spray Foam and blast until completely dry. Add a uniform sprinkle of POWDER GRIP 03 Texturizing Hair Powder.
  2. Split hair into two sections at the back and sweep around to one side. Twist both sections in an anti-clockwise direction. Then cross them over each other in a clockwise direction… twist and cross repeatedly until you reach the ends and have created a two-strand rope braid.
  3. Finish the look with a delicate mist of TRIPLETAKE 32 Extreme High-Hold Hairspray.
