Opening Ceremony goes real futuristic at NYFW

Sci-fi and so fly.

NYFW is a time for designers to show off fashion’s future. And Opening Ceremony went reaaaaal futuristic at its Autumn/Winter ’16 show.

OC used the designs of Blade Runner, Alien and Star Trek designer, Syd Mead, to produce pieces that also speak to a time when today (like, right now) was the future. Sci-fi and so fly.

The colleciton features a miscellany of metallic prints, black business attire, shimmery flares and crisp oversized coats. The ’60s and ’70s vibes are also real strong.

Carol Lim and Humberto Leon’s collection is diverse. Leather, velvet, denim, cotton and satin are all hardcore futuristic. It’s a maelstrom of colour and texture, worn by an equally eclectic bunch of models.

Make-up artist Yadim splashed glitter on a natural face, giving that Blade Runner blur down the runway. Glittery faces, metallic hues and velvety goodness are usually restricted to festival season, but OC brought them to the catwalk and we say yes.
