Book review: Coco and the little black dress

Cute.

Fashion history is never quite as easy to digest as when it’s in picture book format. And so the complex history of Coco Chanel comes best delivered as a children’s book.

Coco and the Little Black Dress is a kid-friendly biography about the life and transformative origins of legendary designer, Coco Chanel. It follows her childhood living in an orphanage, her design inspiration and how her ability to challenge trends led to a legacy.

Each page is beautifully illustrated and like all children’s books, the moral of the story is evident.
It also teaches Chanel’s value in the importance of comfort and the beauty of simplicity.
