Book review: Read this if you want to take great photographs of people

Say cheese.

They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but it’s kind of hard not to when the book is about photography. Or anything visual really.

So it’s lucky that Read This if You Want to Take Great Photographs of People passes this test. Because what lies inside is gold.

As its name so subtly suggests, the book helps guide you through what it takes to snap really good photos of people. Turns out it’s less about the hard-and-fast rules of photography and more about mood, personality and gut feeling.

Which is really a blessing for the less technical of us whose portraits rely on iPhone cameras and Instagram.

Say cheese.
