Cleopold takes us BTS of Chet Faker’s Australian tour

Caught on film.

Australian singer-songwriter Cleopold is an up-and-comer to keep on your radar.

The Los Angeles-based artist has penned songs for Miami Horror and Cassian, and has just signed with Detail Co.

Most recently he has spent time touring alongside Chet Faker for the Built On Live tour, which he managed to capture on film for us.

We chatted to Cleopold about the tour, LA and his opinion on selfies.

What was your most memorable moment from the Built on Live tour? Playing the Sydney Opera House was a dream. So was sharing a lemon tart with Murph after the show.

Did you have a favourite venue or show? It’s always great to play a hometown show. Melbourne was the first stop of the tour, and it was really nice to have my two brothers and the Detail Co. guys side of stage, watching my set. Josh from Miami Horror also jumped up and played some licks on guitar.

Australia or LA.? Melbourne is definitely home, but I feel pretty fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time in LA. It’s just an exciting place for someone making music. If you work hard, there are a lot of great opportunities and weird people to meet.

Which image from the photo diary would you frame? My favorite shot is the one of Kirk holding a glass of wine. Good times. I think the one of Chet and I would look better on a commemorative dish.

What’s your go-to photo face? I usually just try to make my ’stache look as thick as possible.

Selfies are… Cool. Not enough selfies taken on this tour. Missed opportunity.

Music is… Like a selfie.

People would be surprised to know Chet Faker is… Born on the same day as me. 23/06/1988.

What’s next for you? Collab, collab, collab. I just want to write and tour as much as possible. And snap some more pics along the way.
