ALLIE X: Collxtion I

This is pure pop music: the sugary, possibly bad for your health kind.

“Forget what I need, give me what I want” Allie X sings on highlight track “Prime” and I can’t think of a better way to sum up her debut EP.

This is pure pop music: the sugary, possibly bad for your health kind. I like to call it Tumblr Pop.

Incredibly catchy melodies are here in abundance, and coupled with the extremely polished production, they’ll wiggle their way into your head and potentially never leave. I think I may have listened to lead single “Catch” about a hundred times already. It’s really good, guys.

You do however end up feeling a little like this is the work of an artist still finding her feet, as a couple of the tracks here (namely Disney-esque opener “Hello”) seem at odds with the rest of the decidedly darker bunch.

But the highs outweigh these moments by far and Collxtion I easily delivers a handful of pop gems that you’ll inevitably be humming for the next year or so.
