Devendra Banhart: Ape in Pink Marble

Expect the unexpected.

Airy and unassuming, Devendra Banhart’s latest release will likely fly under the radar – much like his previous eight albums.

Ape In Pink Marble is a wistfully reflective release, right from the first strains of the lead single ‘Middle Names’, a song about feeling alone, together. Banhart gently opines “feel the rain fall down again… I’m heading in the other direction. Feel the rain fall.”

Ape could even be termed meditative, until the energy picks up on ‘Fancy Man’ and piques your interest with the rolling rumba of ‘Theme For A Taiwanese Woman In Lime Green’.

I guess the lesson here is, you never really know Banhart. Expect the unexpected.
