Miike Snow: III

Strangely underwhelming.

Miike Snow is a band that deserves to be more well known than it currently is.

Do a quick Google search for their writing and production credits! These are the guys behind Britney’s ‘Toxic’ AKA one of the best pop songs of all time, among so many others.

But when it comes to their solo output however, (this being their third album) Miike’s music has been strangely underwhelming. There’s a definite over-reliance on auto-tuned vocals and familiar chord progressions. Sometimes it feels like a stylistic choice but on weaker tracks it does feel like it’s being used to cover a lack of natural charisma.

I hate to be overly critical (unless it’s about Tidal, then watch me go!) but it really does feel like Miike Snow should stick to writing and producing for other artists.

The talent is most definitely there, but that little bit of character that takes a song to another level just isn’t.
