Curling your eyelashes is one of the most simple beauty steps and yet, people so often skip it when doing their makeup. I know, the eyelash curler looks a bit like a medieval torture device but once you can get over that, you’re on the way to beautiful eyes that really make an impact.
For most makeup artists, you can’t beat the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (available from select David Jones stores, $29). The simple reason being, it works! Comfortable to hold, and with a wide curve, it is easy to capture all the lashes in one go. The rubber pad doesn’t pinch and creates an even and long-lasting curl.
So here’s the not-so secret step by step to creating great lashes:
1. Place the open eyelash curler as close as possible to the base of your lashes without sitting on the actual eyelid. Gently squeeze down and then release the pressure about 3-5 times.
2. Then repeat this process at the middle and the ends of the lashes too, so you have curled in three different places, therefore building a natural and even curl.
3. Follow with several coats of your favourite mascara, whether it is a thickening, lengthening or defining formula. We like MAC Studio Sculpt Lash in Sculpted Black ($33) for ultimate definition and separation.
