Australia’s Kester Black is the first cosmetics company in the world to get B Corp Certified

Like Fairtrade, but for sustainable business.

There are currently more than 1,229 Certified B Corporations from 41 countries and 121 industries all around the world.

And yet, not a single makeup company in the entire world held the certification. Until yesterday.

Australia’s own Kester Black is the first company in the world to break this boundary and that’s a huge deal.

B Corp Certification is to sustainable business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee. To become certified, a company must meet the highest standard of verified social and environmental performance. It also means the company must be by all means transparent and provide legal accountability.

Creator of Kester Black, Anna Ross, founded the brand on one belief: that creating quality manicure and skincare products doesn’t mean the environment has to suffer.

After a huge amount of testing and development, Anna can now finally boast that her brand’s products meet the high standards upheld by B Labs.

To us users, this basically means getting a manicure as kind to your nails as it is to the planet.

All Kester Black products are vegan, cruelty free and sustainably produced. Products include nail polish, hand and body care, with all packaging materials used recyclable. Small batch manufacturing is also used to minimise wastage.

If the brand wasn’t already saintly enough, as part of Kester Black’s initiative to give back, $1 from every online sale on kesterblack.com will be donated to one of Kester Black’s chosen charities.

The brand recently released its Birthday Suit collection with Trophy Wife, spanning an inclusive range of nude polishes for various skin tones.
