We tested 6 body scrubs to get your skin glowing this summer

WORDS BY FASHION JOURNAL

Don’t hate, exfoliate.

With summer on its way, we’re betting you’ve got a few layers of winter skin you might like to shed.

As per usual, we’ve put a few popular brands to the test.

Brand: Skinstitut
Name: Glycolic Scrub 14%
From: skinstitut.com
Price: $30.15
texture: Fine
This creamy scrub is a best on ground, with extremely fine beads that give both a soft exfoliation and gentle cleanse. My skin was (approx) three times soft er after use, and didn’t feel dry or over-scrubbed.

Brand: Frank Body
Name: Shimmer Scrub
From: frankbody.com
Price: $19.95
Texture: Medium
Frank Body’s notorious body scrub has been given an update, this time with triple the shimmer. After a shower, I’m iridescent with hints of glitter. But nothing too over the top. My skin also feels supple and super smooth. Thanks to Frank, I’ve finally achieved unicorn status.

Brand: Aēsop
Name: Geranium Leaf Body Scrub
From: aesop.com
Price: $39
Texture: Medium
With a product this good, it’s easy to understand Aēsop’s stellar reputation. The formula is gel-like and while it looks super coarse, the grains break down really quickly for a smooth scrub. The smell is great too.

Brand: Blaq
Name: Meteor Shower Shimmer Scrub
From: blaq.co
Price: $24.95
Texture: Fine
While I like the idea of exfoliating with matter from the cosmos, this scrub should come with a warning, as it’s super potent. If you don’t scrub with soap right afterwards, it tends to stain quite easily. However, it did leave my skin feeling silky.

Brand: Byron Bay Tan
Name: Superfood Coffee Scrub
From: byronbaytan.com
Price: $28.50
Texture: Coarse
Of all the body scrubs I’ve used, this was the coarsest, successfully getting rid of my stubborn fake tan. The no-fuss formula is perfect for getting your coffee fix, without the caffeine.

Brand: Clarins
Name: Tonic Body Polisher
From: clarins.com
Price: $48
Texture: Fine
This product exfoliates, moisturises and has a pleasant rosemary fragrance. I particularly enjoy its cream/gel texture, as I find loose grain scrubs messy and a bit of a pain to clean off the shower.
