The decision to go the ‘full chop’ is a big one. Even at the hands of the most talented hairdresser, there’s a high possibility things could end in tears. Going from long locks to a pixie cut is a major (and emotional) decision.

Prior to taking the plunge, we’ve put together a fun little tutorial with the assistance of Tom Bozier from TONI&GUY Potts Point.

Even if you aren’t considering a change of style, this is a great way to mix up your everyday hair routine and maybe even trick your friends.

1. Prep your hair with label.m Volume Foam. Divide hair into two sections. The key is to follow the curve of your head, so that the top section of your hair will sit correctly when placed forward.

2. Tie the bottom section into a ponytail and do a three strand braid.

3. With the top section, tie into two ponytails just in front of the crown. Here’s the tricky bit – twist each section on the top of the hair and place forward to get the correct length for your pixie fringe. Secure with pins.

4. Fold the braid onto your head, secure with pins.

5. Dress out top section, making sure there are no gaps and the hair from your two ponytails on top sit forward nicely, and at the correct length for desired look.
