Job description

You will be responsible for maximising profitability and efficiency of the company’s brand in retail, wholesale and online channels. It is expected that you will have great communication skills and be an analytical thinker to assist and support planning team to deliver your departments strategic and performance objectives.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Reviewing weekly sales, GP$, GP% and stock to determine future forecasts and update merchandise plans accordingly
  • Determine corrective action with the Planning Manager to be undertaken, communicate, act and monitor those actions for effective outcomes
  • Conduct half yearly post season reviews with merchandise team and agree forward department strategy aligned to company strategy and objectives
  • Analyse and manage margin mix through stock turn, GMROI, assortment mix, markdown program and marketing program in consultation with the merchandise team to maximise return on investment
  • Option Planning / Range Planning and Gridding
  • Quantification
  • Review merchandise and financial performance weekly with merchandise and retail management teams and agree on forward actions to maximise results
  • In conjunction with the merchandise team hold monthly buy range review and implement agreed actions from that review
  • With the merchandise team generate option plans for the categories in a timely manner
  • Control of OTB to agreed merchandise plan
  • Manage markdowns – review and action agreed markdowns in line with financial measures of stock turn, weeks cover and GMROI
  • Manage Allocations and Replenishment systems and set the required parameters in order to optimise inventory in wanted products
  • Provide and communicate allocation guidance to Allocators to ensure right stock, right time and right place i.e Stock to sales ratio, Weeks forward cover & Stock turn

To be considered for this role, you will ideally:

  • Have a minimum 3 years experience
  • Merchandise planning experience in fashion retail or youth related industry
  • Strong financial and numeracy skills
  • Strong Excel skills a must
  • An analytical mind with the confidence to make educated decisions and resolve problems
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail & accuracy to be of paramount importance
  • Sound computer skills
  • Ability to plan and self manage workload and priorities
  • Experience using a planning system is necessary
  • Develop and mentor Allocator
