Role description

Role Mission Reporting to the Managing Director for Gucci Australia & New Zealand, and functionally to the Merchandising & VM Director (South East Asia Pacific), the Merchandising Manager is responsible for the management of all merchandising activities across Australia and New Zealand, driving in-store animation for all product categories within the market. With the product assortment for each store, the Merchandising Manager supports the stores to help them reach their maximum sales potential. Key Accountabilities This role will be responsible for – but not limited to – 

  • Contributing to the buying assortment by store in AU/NZ;
  • Performance in Sales, Growth and Sell-through for AU/ NZ
  • Monitoring and analysis of sales KPIs to propose consequent action plans;
  • Inventory management, allocation and consolidation for AU/NZ;
  • Develop the relationship between Merchandising, VM and Retail to provide clear information of assortment to ensure correct product mix and display;
  • Provide Competitive information and Market expertise to the Region;
  • Conduct in-store seasonal training for each collection and presentations to corporate visitors;
  • Regular Store Visits to drive business and provide important feedback;
  • Manage a team of buying, planning and visual merchandisers to ensure the accuracy of their work, the achievement of deadlines and quality of their work environment;
  • The career development of the Merchandising team through identifying and developing capable employees by different way of coaching and training;
  • Foster the communication and interaction with the Regional team.

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Requirements 

  • Relevant tertiary education, such as Fashion Design/Merchandising;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the management of buying activities, preferably within the luxury fashion industry;
  • Experience within an international company with regional reporting lines, would be advantageous;
  • Strong understanding of the retail environment and proven interaction with retail teams;
  • In depth knowledge of the local marketplace and fashion trends;
  • Effective leadership skills with drive, innovation and strong sense of commitment;
  • Independent and resourceful with versatility and adaptability;
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment;
  • Good team player with proven ability to partner with business leaders;
  • Advanced in MS Office, particularly in MS Excel.
