COS has created a capsule collection with no fabric wastage

Clever cookies.

COS is turning 10 and to celebrate, the minimal label is dropping a capsule collection for men, women and children.

First opening up on London’s Regent Street in 2007, the brand now has 198 stores in 33 countries.

The 10-piece capsule has been created like a jigsaw puzzle. Each design pattern has been cut to use the full width of fabric, limiting any excess. The resulting pieces are clean and considered, with predominantly square silhouettes. Crisp cotton and technical polyester make up the collection, which feature Japanese design elements like kimono sleeves.

“The design team took the opportunity to play and experiment in the pattern-cutting process, re-imagining the methods behind the design,” said COS creative Director, Karin Gustafsson.

“The pattern cutters and designers worked in parallel, referencing historical techniques that maximised the use of materials. As we look to the future we will continue to focus on the efficient use of fabrics and forward-thinking techniques.”

COS’ 10th anniversary collection will be available worldwide from March 24.
