Ellery’s next collection is here and we barely recognise it

Ellery? Is that you?

Kym Ellery knows theatrics.

The designer’s success is in her infamous bell-shaped silhouettes and voluminous flares, but she’s stepped it up a notch this season.

Resort 2017 steps outside the monochromatic comfort zone and moves toward bolder hues of flamingo, blue and red florals.

It forms an unexpected harmony of Victorian influences and ’70s details, which is a combination only Ellery could champion.

Her vision becomes clear after noting the collection’s inspiration, the 1973 cult-surrealist film, The Holy Mountain.

Racy mesh tops paired with theatrical collars, peasant dresses and ’70s flares make up a collection that must be seen to be believed.

It’s two eras vastly different yet married with elegance, a feat Ellery has mastered with ease.
