Denim gets a frilly reworking in J Brand’s latest collaboration with British designer, Simone Rocha.
Simone admits to Style.com that she rarely wears denim, so it’s no surprise that the capsule collection doesn’t feature any blue washes.
“I had never used denim before, but I worked against the grain and tried to treat it like any other fabric.”
Inspired by preppy school uniforms, and “the flowers and foliage found around schools”, the collection consists of sleeveless jackets, dresses and pants in pink, red and black washes.
“I wanted it to feel a little awkward, a bit young and naïve, like the jackets are voluminous and oversized and you see a lot of ankle with the jean.”
The collection is available exclusively from Dover Street Market on 14 November, before it rolls out to Net-a-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges and J Brand’s website by 1 December.
It’s ruffling our feathers.
