NYFW recap: Opening Ceremony SS16

Pot plant bonanza.

Carol Lim and Humberto Leon (the legends behind Opening Ceremony) put on a gorgeous show at NYFW.

The Spring 2016 RTW collection is inspired by the American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. He created utopian-like communities with a philosophy he called ‘organic architecture’. It blended the best of nature with the suburban aesthetic. If you’ve been to the Guggenheim Museum in New York, then you may know that’s one of his masterpieces.

Beige, black and white run through the collection in loose silhouettes with louder orange, yellow, red and blue pieces.

The show also featured hundreds of pot plants. They’ll be replanting them after the show at four schools around New York for Edible Schoolyard NYC, a non-profit organisation that develop gardens and kitchen classrooms in public schools to teach students about the environment, food and health. Cute.

Nice work guys.
