A critical analysis of the best and worst Met Gala outfits

The good, the bad, the ugly.

Ahhh the Met Gala. It’s like glam a Halloween party for Hollywood’s most exclusive. It’s a night of fashion, where the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Solange think they can out-Gaga Lady Gaga herself (usually failing).

Each year, designers dish up their most creative concoctions, resulting in both the best and worst fashion moments of the year.

2016’s Met Gala is set to kick off tonight. And while we eagerly await to see this year’s Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology-themed creations, we thought we’d look back on some of our favourite ever looks. As well as some of the more lol-worthy.

Some designers have consistently managed to nail it (Calvin Klein holla), while others are seriously hit and miss. The title of serial offender goes to Madonna, for basically looking awful every year.

But out of the good, the bad and the totally wild, our worst-ever outfit would have to go to Julianne Moore, circa 1998. This outfit is SO bad, not even the decade can excuse it. She looks like a shiny brown tree trunk.

Shout out to Ralph Lauren for taking out the runner up, with the hideous pinstriped, eggplant-coloured dress and matching blazer, worn by Karolina Kurkova in 2006.

Can’t wait to see what this year brings.
