Interview: Heridadegato

Fascinated and a little intrigued, we quizzed the duo behind the Spanish label.

Those of you unaccustomed to HERIDADEGATO, get comfy. The Madrid-based label is one of Spain’s finest up-and-comers, honing an understated aesthetic to create unusually refined unisex pieces. Fascinated and a little intrigued, we quizzed designers Jacobo Salvador and Maria Rosenfeldt to find out more behind the label.

The Heridadegato customer is…

We want people who buy into well-made clothes, and people who believe in brands like they were a religion, people who want to share a complete world with HERIDADEGATO. That’s our dream.

The ultimate person to dress would be…

Willow Smith, FKA Twigs, Drake.

We would put them in…

Really personal and special garments for the live shows, basic garments with a handmade or very artisanal touch. Pieces people see and instantly know it’s us!

Our personal style is…

We used to dress very comfortably, in a tracksuit or casual clothes during the week and on the weekend we’d be more creative. Now we both wear what we love to wear all the time. Maria will wear dresses and heels and Jacobo likes to wear blazers and smart shoes, but always in a very sporty urban way.

Our all time favourite fashion moment is…

Björk with the Marjan Pejoski’ swan dress. Kurt Cobain in Dries Van Noten. Angelina Joli’s leg. Fever Ray receiving a prize.

The most embarrassing outfit I’ve ever worn is…

Maybe some looks from when we were 15… we don’t want to be reminded.

In the morning I dress for…

We totally dress for ourselves.
The next big trend for 2015 is…

The best thing for 2015 is that it seems that you can wear everything. We mean, it seems like everything can be a trend these days. So we just dress for ourselves.

In five years we’ll be…

Selling clothes worldwide, through our website and within international stores. Even living somewhere else, far away from Spain.
