Empower Me: Empowering women through a night of fashion

Girls just wanna be empowered.

As women, it’s always important that while empowering ourselves we empower those around us. And as we know beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, genders and ethnicities.

But while there are over 100 ethnic groups residing in Australia, VicHealth has found that race-based intolerance remains common.

Empower Me is the brainchild of Ning Hadiningsih and Nic Van Riel. Like many, they realised that self-confidence is a big issue affecting many young women worldwide. And so they started Empower Me, with the focus of empowering women by promoting better self-confidence and self-acceptance through fashion.

On February 11 you can head down to The Carlton on Bourke Street for the Empower Me Fashion Night. With a focus on encouraging self-acceptance among women, the night will promote multiculturalism within the Melbourne community while raising funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Kicking off at 7pm, the show will feature a number of runways featuring local designers and pieces from Vinnies. The runway will feature both professional models and new female immigrants who have been trained by runway professionals especially for the night. There will also be a styling stall, a flatlay competition and a make-up stall to swing by.

Nab a ticket for yourself and head along for a fashionable evening, or just buy heaps and turn it into a ladies night.

Girls just wanna be empowered.
