Kara Liu’s womenswear label Interval will now be stocked at Myer stores

Kara keeps killing it.

Kara Liu has long been referred to as one of those “designers to watch.” Now she’s killing it for real.

Her womenswear line Interval, was snapped up by Myer yesterday.

For a brand that only launched in November last year, this is pretty big. Most labels have to work for years to be backed by a department store, so this is an awesome point of difference for the local label.

Kara is especially excited because Myer is such an iconic department store that represents the Australian lifestyle, which she’s all about.

For those who don’t know of Kara, her major success may seem out of the blue. She’s actually been on the fashion scene for a while now and her industry experience is pretty impressive.

Kara was born and raised in Shanghai and moved to Australia when she was 12. She completed a fashion degree at RMIT and has interned with both Glue Store and Alexander Wang.

She also worked part time at Saba and believes this experience is what taught her the importance of hanger appeal. Customers need to pick up a garment and believe it will look good on them, just by looking at it.

To add to her endless list of achievements, Kara was a finalist in Melbourne Fashion Festival’s National Graduate Showcase, a few years back.

If Kara’s talent is anything to go by, we’re super keen to see what the finalists of this year’s VAMFF National Graduate Showcase have in store for us.

Interval will be able to purchase online and in stores this month, with prices ranging from $59-$229.
