These sneakers are made from reused plastic bottles

The future of sneakers is looking very sustainable.

How many plastic bottles does it take to make a shoe at Veja? Just three.

And that’s not even surprising, considering Veja have been leading the pack in eco-friendly sneakers for a while now.

The latest trend in sustainable footwear is the re-use of ocean plastic, spinning polymers into soft yet strong and versatile fabrics for garments.

And Veja is all over it.

The brand likes to call it B-Mesh, aka bottle mesh. It is a breathable, waterproof fabric and only takes three reused plastic bottles to produce.

Other materials Veja uses include organic cotton and ecologically accredited, fairly traded, wild Brazilian rubber.

Veja incorporated the bottle mesh technology into its latest drop, a revamp of one a signature silhouette from 2011.
