Fashion Journal

Now that winter’s over, we have no excuse to stay curled up on the couch.

The weather’s warming up so it’s time to get out and get healthy, the FJ way. Push-ups not included (we promise).

The Stable Co
Betty Crocker step aside, we’ve found a new cake mix that doesn’t require an oven. The Stable Co celebrates healthy, raw desserts by creating mixes that are ‘unbaked’. Each mix is certified vegan organic and free from gluten, dairy and soy. There are also no nasties, with each dessert set in the fridge or freezer, sans preservatives. With raw vanilla cheesecake, salted caramel slice and macadamia and coconut bliss balls to choose from, even your non-vegan friends will be hanging for a slice. Each product also comes in compostable packaging. In case this couldn’t get any more perfect.

Afternoon Pick Me Up
That 3pm slump is looking a little brighter. Afternoon Pick Me Up is an all-new delivery service, bringing a curated selection of fresh, healthy and organic goodies right to your door. You have a choice of two boxes, each featuring a fresh Greene St juice, a RAW chocolate bar and a hand lettered greeting card by Bianca Cash. The Minimalist Box comes complete with two large Monstera leaves, while the Standard Box is finished with the prettiest bouquet of flowers. With delivery on Mondays and Fridays, this is officially the sweetest way to make your workday. Or someone else’s.

Made by Fressko
We all know the benefits of saying no to takeaway cups, but Made by Fressko is taking it to a new level. The brand is eliminating plastic, rubber and takeaway cup culture, instead opting for glass. Apparently glass is the most natural and safe way to consume liquid, and Fressko does it well. Really well. Aside from the very aesthetically pleasing bottle, all Fressko products are BPA and chemical free, while a 2-in-1 infuser means you can brew as you go. Perfect for tea, coffee and fruit-infused water, for those who are the epitome of health. This is how you drink on the go.

Jasmine Alexa
If there is one struggle we can all relate to, it’s finding activewear that is socially acceptable to wear daily. Perhaps it’s the greatest dilemma of our generation. Perhaps not. But one independent label is helping us all out. Better described as an athleisure label, Jasmine Alexa creates quality garments that are designed to be worn as daywear, but with appropriate functionality for a good sweat sesh. There’s a strong emphasis on comfort, fabric and fit, supported by a very cool, minimalist aesthetic. This is active daywear for active lifestyles. Far from you’re used to.

Real talk: we’re all guilty of laying on the couch in our activewear. But you need to get moving, people. And to get you on your way is Active Style. e retailer curates a huge range of activewear and accessories for genuinely active people. Oh, and you. Brands range from independents like First Base and Arcadia Movement, right through to sporting giants like Nike and adidas. Golden Grind
Didn’t you hear? Coffee is so yesterday. If you don’t start your day with a turmeric latte, you’re doing it wrong. Golden Grind is a perfectly proportioned blend, with 100 per cent organic turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and black pepper. Mixed in Melbourne, Golden Grind is vegan and completely free from sugar, nuts, gluten, dairy and preservatives. A cup a day is an easy way to increase your health, thanks to the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of turmeric. There are now three blends in the mix, including a new chilli blend and coconut and cacao. With no caffeine, this is a drink that helps you stay golden.

The A.M
With the influx of pretty activewear for all our brunching needs, came a lull in gear for those of us who actually use it to exercise. Enter The A.M, a sportswear brand specialising in high performance wear for women. The range encompasses compression and active leggings, crops and a cap so far, all aptly named on the hour in the A.M. The pieces are made with moisture-wicking materials to keep you comfortable during your workout and are designed with versatility in mind. Prepare to transition from workout to brunch without having to sacrifice style.
