Calling all aspiring costume designers (or any designers for that matter).

Multi-Academy Award winning designer, Sandy Powell, will be in Melbourne next month and she’s not leaving without giving you creatives a special treat.

Coinciding with ACMI’s SCORSESE exhibition, Powell will be presenting a Masterclass in Costume Design at the centre on August 4.

You can expect to gain a behind the scenes look into the designer’s career and iconic work, including that with filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

Powell has designed for six Scorsese-directed films including The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, Hugo and The Departed.

To add the icing to the cake, Powell won an Oscar for Best Achievement in Costume Design for her work in The Aviator.

Moral of the story, she’s got impressive design skillz.

The exhibition is exclusive to Melbourne and will be running until September 18.

Did we mention there’s going to be a number of her costumes there, including dresses worn by Cate Blanchett and Gwen Stefani?

Because there will be.

Tickets are on sale now.
