adidas is releasing a shoe made from plastic waste collected from beaches

Good for your feet, and the ocean.

Continuing its long-standing partnership with Parley for the Oceans, adidas has given one of its classic sneakers an eco-friendly update.

The initiative aims to stop plastic entering the ocean and sees waste retrieved from beaches and coastal communities in the Maldives. The waste products are then turned into yarn and knitted to construct the shoe’s upper.

The Parley EQT features a two-tone upper and is dropping in two colour combinations – dark navy and blue, and white and turquoise.

The sneaker will set you back $240 and is available exclusively at JD Sports Melbourne Central from October 14.
