This is going to be biiiig.

While we have just come out of a post-VAMFF hibernation, our mates up in Sydney have been very busy.

Yesterday marked the unveiling of the preliminary schedule for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. Over 55 designers were announced, ready to be showcased in Sydney from Sunday May 15.

Superstar Australian designer Toni Maticevski has landed the coveted position of opening this year’s festival, followed by an insane line-up that is slowly starting to be revealed.

So far we know the week will showcase resort collections from the following designers:

Aje, Akira, Anna Quan, Aqua Blu, Bec & Bridge, Bianca Spender, Bondi Bather, By Johnny, Christopher Esber, Cristahlea, Daniel Avakian, Dion Lee, Discount Universe, Duskii, Emma Mulholland, Georgia Alice, Ginger & Smart, Holystone, House of Cannon, Jason Hewitt, Jennifer Kate, Kaliver, Karla Špetić, Macgraw, Manning Cartell, Maticevski, Misha Collection, Monster Alphabets, Palm Swimwear, P.E Nation, P.Jamé, Rebecca Vallance, Steven Khalil, Third Form, Ten Pieces, We Are Handsome, We Are Kindred, Yeojin Bae and Zhivago.

The week will see some of Sydney’s most instagrammable spots turn into runways for the festival. Everywhere from the Sydney Opera House to Bondi Beach will showcase the best emerging talent from Australia and overseas.

A series of industry seminars will also run throughout, featuring the who’s who of the business, ready to impart their wisdom on audiences.
