France is opening a wine-based theme park to bask in the glory of vino

Cheers.

Was that wine in your coffee cup this morning? Just us? Never mind.

Lovers of vino worldwide, the wine gods are smiling down on you today.

As of this week, the City of Wine is actually a real place that really exists, thanks to the French.

La Cité du Vin is a 10-storey wine-centric theme park in France, set to open its doors to the public tomorrow.

The theme park features expert tasting sessions, 20 exhibits and a 250-seat auditorium to bask in the glory of vino.

There’s even a boat ride that simulates the life of a sea merchant, sailing the seven seas selling wine. Dream job.

The building itself resembles a swirling wine glass. Its architects described it as a “space shaped by symbols of identity: gnarled vine stock, wine swirling in a glass… Every detail of the architecture evokes wine’s soul and liquid nature.”

La Cité du Vin will open in the Bordeaux wine region (where else) and general admission tickets are around $20.

You can show off to all your friends before you get there by brushing up on your wine knowledge, courtesy of us.

You’re welcome.
