Melbourne fashion label supporting the homeless, HoMie, has dropped new styles

Also a new shoot.

GUYS. We cannot stress to you enough how good HoMie is.

There’s a lot to say in this article so in the interests of convenience (and your short, scrolly attention span) here’s a quick intro.

  • HoMie creates v cool streetwear.
  • It’s also a social enterprise, providing brand-new clothing, training and job opportunities to people experiencing homelessness.
  • All clothing is designed and printed in Melbourne, and all jewellery and accessories are handmade by local makers.
  • They rule.

So now you’re up to scratch. Moving on!

After a successful year-long residency at Melbourne Central, the label has finally found its home. HoMie has shifted into its new Fitzroy flagship, a position which founder Marcus Cook has labelled a “perfect fit.”

The Fitzroy and wider community have welcomed us with open arms and it is a testament to the people of Melbourne that social enterprises like us are going from strength to strength with community support.”

You said it Marcus.

To celebrate, the brand has broadened the HoMie offering, launching a series of new designs. The collection has Fitzroy written all over it (literally), with a tee bearing Fitzroy colours along the chest; a long sleeve tee with the Fitzroy postcode down the sleeve; and a crew neck stamped with the Melbourne city skyline.

The team also shot an editorial to coincide with the launch. Titled ’A label for the streets,’ the shoot features HoMie staff and mates cruising the No.8 tram to Coburg, looking exactly how they want HoMie to look – real. The aim is to bring together both aspects of the brand, one that creates streetwear and gives back to Melburnians doing it rough.
