Melbourne initiative and concept store HoMie is dropping its women’s range tonight

Rollin with the homies.

By now you would have heard of Homeless of Melbourne, or HoMie.

Since opening their first store earlier this year, they’ve changed lives by providing brand new clothing, training and job opportunities to people experiencing homelessness.

Originally they started with a unisex clothing line and the idea that for every item bought, a similar item was donated to a homeless person.

And while you might have thought they couldn’t get any more awesome, they’ve just released a line of clothing for women, HoMie 4 Her.

Domestic violence is a huge issue in Australia and the leading cause of homelessness for women and children. HoMie are trying to change that with HoMie 4 Her providing the opportunity to focus on issues that are specific to women experiencing homelessness.

The idea is still the same, for every purchase made over the counter HoMie will donate a brand new item of clothing to a person experiencing homelessness. They’ll also be channeling these donations to women-specific issues by connecting with services focused on domestic violence and hosting some ‘women only’ VIP days in 2016. It’s where they invite the homeless of Melbourne to ‘shop’ the store and treat them to little luxuries, think a haircut, decent lunch and barista-made coffees. So farHoMie have been able to provide six VIP days to over 300 people experiencing homelessness.

You can also head along to the Melbourne Central HoMie store tonight because they’re having a small celebration for HoMie 4 Her. Starting at 6pm in store there’ll be drinks, music, a silent art auction, the new range and plenty of good vibes.

The H4H range will be available in-store at the end of next week, with pre-order for basics available online now.
