We spent 15 minutes with Lana Del Rey’s medium

On what’s its like to do a reading.

Working in the fashion industry, it’s not every day you get to meet a person whose occupation is to interact with the spiritual world.

Recently, I was lucky enough to work with LA-based medium, Fleur. With a client list including friend Lana Del Rey, Fleur is fast becoming a name for those wanting to speak to loved ones on the other side.

On her press shoot in London, Fleur took a moment to chat with me about her job, fashion and travel.

How did you know you were a medium?

I was born seeing the spirit world. It was a part of my everyday life, and I thought everyone could see what I could. My parents were the first to recognise the gift.

Have you always been into the spiritual world? I guess it’s almost the supernatural?

I didn’t grow up in a spiritual household, and I wasn’t ever introduced to mediumship as a belief. It was just a part of my reality.

Do you have a mental switch to block messages?

I absolutely have an ‘on and off’ switch. When I’m not working, I’m not tuning in. It allows me to lead a normal life.

I’m sure if you did it would be exhausting! What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The aftereffect. It has been amazing to see how life-changing and healing a reading can be for someone. The most rewarding part of a reading is the closure and relief it can bring.

Did you ever think you could make a career out of what you do?

When I was younger I very much wanted to be a doctor, so the idea of working as a medium never even crossed my mind. I started doing readings in college part-time and fell in love with the impact the work had on people. Word of mouth spread quickly after I graduated, giving me the opportunity to make it my full-time job.

I was told that things really picked up after you met Lana Del Rey, how did you meet Lana?

I first met Lana when I did a reading for her a few years ago, and we became friends after.

Do you have any other celeb clients?

Los Angeles holds a lot of celebrities, so I’ve worked for several of them. However, I like to keep their names private!

What do you wear when do you a reading?

In readings, I’m all about being comfortable. A pair of jeans is definitely the go-to. However, when I’m doing a stage show I have to wear heels. They are admittedly taken off immediately after the two-hour show, but I really think I’ll never be on stage without them.

Where do you love to shop?

We have some incredible vintage shops in Los Angeles on Melrose Avenue a 10-minute walk from my house. It’s a street I visit far too often.

If you could wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A jumpsuit, black and fitted.

What do you think about London? Or do you prefer LA?

I love London. LA is currently home and it’s been very good to me. Both cities have so much to offer. The dream is to be back and forth.

Have you ever been to Australia?

I’ve never been! Australia is definitely on my bucket list.

Do you plan on doing some gigs in Oz?
I hope so!

What do you know of Australia(ians)?

Australians travel a great deal! Every trip I’ve taken has included making some Aussie friends along the way.

Word on the grapevine is that you have TV show coming out? That’s exciting tell me about that?

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you anything yet!

What can we expect next from you?

I’ll be back in London to do a live show in October.
