A medieval town in Italy wants to pay you to move there

If city life is no longer your bag, perhaps relocating to an idyllic Medieval town in Italy is just what you need. If so, now would be the time to go. 

According to CNN Travel, a town in Italy’s Puglia region has decided to pay newcomers up to 2,350 euros to lay down their roots. 

Candela was once the thriving home to approximately 8,000 residents, however, numbers have now dwindled to 2,700.

Mayor of Candela, Nicola Gratta is hoping to rebuild the local industry and economy by enticing another 6,000 people to migrate over. 

Sound too good to be true? Well, of course, there’s a catch. You can’t live the lifestyle of a character from Eat Pray Love. Mayor Gratta wants you to work and be earning at least 7,500 euros per year. Plus, you must rent or buy property to legitimise your commitment to Candela. But I bet you can still plant tomatoes and listen to Dean Martin. 

On the plus side, this quaint little town has had zero criminal reports in the past two decades and the faulty wi-fi is sure to transport you to a simpler time.
