Actresses advocate for choice in new campaign about abortion rights

It’s a powerful choice.

While abortion in Australia is legal, with different regulations in each state the health system in the US is a much more difficult road to travel.

Abortion is still illegal in most states in the US, and in the states where it is legal, it’s highly regulated and less about the woman’s right to choose.

This Friday in the US, marks the 43rd anniversary of the landmark decision in the case of Roe v Wade. The ruling made it possible for a woman to make her own personal medical decisions, including the right to an abortion.

But while this was a breakthrough there is still massive opposition to a woman’s right to choose, with nearly 400 anti-abortion bills proposed in the US in 2015 alone.

Accordingly, the Centre for Reproductive Rights created the Draw The Line campaign to bring to light real stories of why women have chosen to have an abortion and why they should have the right to choose.

Nothing is ever black and white.

With the stories being re-told by actresses Elizabeth Banks, Bellamy Young, Amy Brenneman, Mercedes Mason, Mary McCormack, Dascha Polanco and Retta, the hope is to draw attention to a Supreme Court case in March which will make abortion access in Texas extremely difficult.

Take a look.
