The Johnston Collection has teamed up with the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival for the 2016 Cultural Program Project Series. The museum will be hosting two iconic lectures in the lead up to the festival.

The first lecture will see writer and filmmaker, Lesley Sharon Rosenthal, present Recalling the Glamour. The lecture will be a celebration of Collins Street as Melbourne’s first fashion thoroughfare. Rosenthal will take a look back to a time of style-conscious entrepreneurs and 20th century influencers.

The second lecture, A New Dress for Emma, will be presented by actress Lisa Rodgers. It will explore the relationship between worlds, fabric and performance in the context of the costumes for Jane Austin’s Emma
