If you’ve been dreaming of a trip to Japan, you may just want to hold off a few more years.

Studio Ghibli producer, Toshio Suzuki, has announced during a conference that Nagakute City will soon be home to a Studio Ghibli theme park.

Set to open in 2020, Ghibli Park will be built at Aichi Prefecture’s EXPO Park. Home of the 2005 World EXPO, the park already features 200 hectares of lush forest and a life-sized recreation of Satsuki and Mei’s home in Ghibli fave, My Neighbour Totoro.

It’s being reported the new park will go to great lengths to ensure that none of the existing plant and animal life on the site will be disturbed. So much so, the park will recreate the entire forest in My Neighbour Totoro.

Is it too early to lock in annual leave for 2020?
