Lana Del Rey: Lust For Life
WORDS BY BIANCA O’NEILL
Where are all the hits?
An album with features from Stevie Nicks and A$AP Rocky side by side? It shouldn’t work but it kind of does…
It’s all due to LDR’s unique ability to fuse dreamy melancholic pop with a simultaneously modern and retro aesthetic. The only issue with Lust For Life is the age-old question: where are all the hits?
The downtempo nature of the album means the listening experience can get a little dreary at times. LDR is best when she’s delivering the kind of fringe-dwelling, ultra-girly pop on songs like ‘National Anthem’ and ‘Of to the Races’.
Thankfully A$AP saves the day, bring some much-needed energy on ‘Groupie Love’ and ‘Summer Bummer’.
