The xx announces an encore Melbourne show

The XX

WORDS BY BAILEY JONES

PSA.

Well, praise be to The xx for treating us with an encore Melbourne show at the Forum. The British indie trio will be arriving in Australia in a matter of weeks, and considering prior venues couldn’t contain our overwhelming love for them, they’ve decided to add another show.

The brooding, percussion-heavy sounds can be experienced January 14 at the Forum, with tickets up for grabs on December 21. If the response so far is any indication, get in quick m8s.

Plus, you’ll also be doing good by attending, as proceeds will be split between Heaps Decent and Minus18.

Heaps Decent is an Australian-based arts organisation, which allows young people and emerging artists from marginalised communities to tell their story in whichever form suits them. The xx is giving back to the community in “the most perfect creative exchange we know of,” Heaps Decent said in a press release.

Minus18 is an organisation for LGBTIQ Australian youths. It seeks to eradicate bullying and discriminatory behaviour by creating an environment where everybody belongs.

“Money raised from this event will help us provide safe music events for young people to be themselves without fear,” said Micah Scott, CEO of Minus18.

Brisbane and Sydney shows are on sale now and selling fast. Accompanying them will be special guests Kelela and Earl Sweatshirt on all shows except the Forum, which is pretty steamy.
