Orly has launched a halal nail polish for Muslim women

#HalalPaints

Progress and inclusivity in the beauty industry is important now more than ever, which is why we love the idea behind this latest collab.

Orly has teamed up with lifestyle blog, Muslim Girl, to release a line of halal-certified nail polish to cater for Muslim prayer.

The brand new, limited capsule collection is called #HalalPaints. And it’s the “first of many ways” to represent Muslim women within the industry.

#HalalPaints boast water permeable technology, which allows for water to pass through the polish, without affecting its colour.

It’s common for some Muslim women to forego nail polish, due to its formula clashing with ablution water practices. Essentially, the polish blocks water from reaching the nails, conflicting with rituals that require that water touches every part of the skin.

The new #HalalPaints formula means there’s no longer a barrier between the water and the skin, making the range prayer-appropriate.

It’s undoubtedly a huge step for the industry.

The 100% halal ingredient list includes argan oil, vitamin B5 and vitamin C, which help create longevity and fresh-looking nails.

#HalalPaints’ six shade lineup ranges from nudes to berries to metallics, as well as a clear top coat.

“This line is important because there are so many girls and young women who aren’t represented in mainstream beauty,” says the site’s chief of staff, Azmia Magane.

“They either don’t fit that definition or see things about them that are designed without them, instead of for them and by them. This is our way of bridging the gap.”

The six-piece collection is all yours for just $49.
