How to: TOME runway hair at NYFW

TOME’s hair director shows us how to get that perfect balance between effortless and polished.

In the collection that won New York Fashion Week (yes, we’ve called it), TOME stole all our hearts with their fine pleating, unexpected finishes and polished yet effortless aesthetic.

You may have to wait to get your hands on the collection, but you can get the runway look now. Straight off the back of their fashion week show, Evo and hair director Lauren McCowan show us how to get that TOME hair- pleats, polish and all.

Step 1: Spray hair with evo mister fantastic for fullness and texture. Dry spray into hair with a denman brush for polish.

Step 2: Using a tailcomb, create a sleek centre part and mist roots with evo helmut light to set.

Step 3: Take large horizontal sections of hair and smooth with a low-temperature straightener, putting a slight bevel (not a curl) on the ends. We recommend the Cloud Nine Wide or Standard Iron set at 150 degrees.

Step 4: Using a natural bristle brush, brush hair into the palm of the hands at the nape of the neck. Tuck hair behind ear.

Step 5: Taking thin sections, begin a fishtail braid. Be sure to keep braid tight at the nape of the neck.

Step 6: Continue down the length of the hair keeping fishtail braid tight and flat. Secure at ends with a thin elastic and wrap a small piece of hair around the elastic to hide and secure. Set band with evo helmut light to finish.
