Join icon fashion house Aje – Product Developer for Accessories at our Aje Head Office in Redfern.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the entire product development process for all accessories categories, ensuring adherence to the brand’s standards for design, quality, fit, sustainability, pricing, and margins.
- Take full ownership of the critical path for accessories, managing timelines and ensuring all development deadlines are met.
- Drive the sourcing of fabrics, trims, and hardware, ensuring the best possible quality, price, and sustainability targets are achieved.
- Oversee the creation and accuracy of detailed tech packs (including BOMs), ensuring all necessary information is documented throughout the development cycle.
- Work closely with the Design, Production, and Merchandising teams to align on creative and commercial goals, ensuring product success in the market.
- Lead meetings with key stakeholders to review collection progress, troubleshoot challenges, and provide updates on development milestones.
- Ensure consistency in product fit, finish, and quality by collaborating closely with garment technicians throughout the development process.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, ensuring target margins are met or improved upon.
- Foster strong, positive relationships with both existing and new suppliers to enhance profitability and product innovation
KEY SKILLS
- 5+ years of experience in product development, with a strong focus on accessories.
- Proven track record of managing the full product development cycle, from concept to production.
- Strong technical knowledge of material and construction techniques relevant to accessories (e.g., leather, hardware, trims).
- Expertise in creating and maintaining tech packs, including BOMs and CADs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and budgeting.
- Skilled in Adobe Illustrator for CAD creation and product visualization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage critical paths and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Experience with offshore manufacturing and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong leadership, communication skills and decision-making skills, with the ability to inspire and guide junior team members.
- Fast paced environment, managing multiple projects and strong attention to detail.
