We don’t believe in disposable fashion, with a mission to design the pieces that will be treasured as part of your wardrobe forever – striving to create pieces that transcend any season, occasion, day or evening and look just as glamorous in heels or bare feet.

We’re looking for a passionate Design Room Assistant to join us from our newly expanded head office in Rosebery, Sydney. Reporting to our Head of Design and Design Room Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to supporting the design team to ensure seamless management of the sampling cycle for each collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting up all garment boards and keeping it updated
  • Responsible for data entry of trims and lining for SMS samples by adding information to the TechPack for the factory to follow
  • Responsible for fabric master – setting up folder to hand over to production, ensure fabric headers have designs sign-off attached for handover to production
  • Responsible for receipting in proto samples and SMS into development plan, ensuring the proto samples are added to the fit list and tagged
  • Responsible for tagging all proto samples and SMS for patternmakers
  • Responsible for handing samples to be returned to the factories to the production team for sending
  • Assist with the set-up of style information into Apparel21
  • Assist Jr PD to ensure production SMS set is 100% correct with any variances clearly documented on sample and tech pack
  • Assist Jr PD to ensure all final tech packs have been reviewed and signed off ahead of the range handover to Production team
  • Create style numbers and support in setting up Tech Pack in line with HOD brief and issue to patternmakers
  • Assist patternmakers to measure samples
  • Manage any local over-dying of fabric sampling and/or accessories in line with the sampling timeline
  • Manage all outsourcing components within the sample process – i.e., button hole, trim dying etc
  • Attend fittings on all 1st SMS, recording fit comments for both patternmakers and HOD
  • Sample cutting as and when required during busy periods to meet SMS deadlines
  • As required assist design with the creation of Technical Trade sketches to be used for production tech packs
  • Ensure sample collection is tagged and well presented for showroom
  • Setting up and maintaining photo boards for proto samples and SMS across all categories
  • Support in creation and maintenance of Range Book each season
  • Support in creation of Features & Benefits for each style prior to selling
  • Steam samples on arrival
  • Check DHL status with production to see if parcels arrive
  • Create and Maintain Proto Fit board after every fit and send to design team
  • Organise and send parcels- local and international
  • File and sort Fabrics & trims
  • Internal sample management between departments
  • Create Lab dip Request forms
  • Support in setting up copy over tech packs
  • Prepare swatches to send to Bryon

 

CAMPAIGN & ECOMM SHOOTS

  • Ensure all samples required for the shoot are checked, correct, steamed and packed a day ahead of the scheduled shoot
  • Assist with transporting the samples from office to the shoot location/studio
  • Assist with dressing of model on the day
  • Provide general support and assistance to the HOD and team on the day

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Good technical knowledge of design and garment construction and sample cutting skills
  • Must hold a degree or equivalent qualifications in Fashion Design
  • Minimum 1-2 years industry experience in a similar role
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using Photoshop, Illustrator/InDesign, Excel, Outlook/Gmail
  • Must have strong numerical skills and experience calculating/ assessing yield estimates and developing costings
  • Ability to develop relationships with key suppliers and people across all levels within the business
  • Extremely well organised and efficient with excellent time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Natural problem solver, great communicator and team player
