Join icon fashion house Aje as a RTW Designer at our Aje Head Office in Surry Hills.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for researching, designing, presenting, and supporting the development of a balanced and cohesive RTW collection under the guidance of the Senior Designer and in accordance with the creative brief, customer demographic and Aje brand DNA.
- Supporting Senior Designer in creating and launching technical developments for collections, including creating technical artworks, mockups and technical files for communication with suppliers
- Managing the sourcing and development of new innovative textiles, embroideries, textures, speciality developments and trims with suppliers in accordance with timelines, costings and expectations of quality and aesthetic.
- End-to-end design, execution and development of technical artworks for embroideries, fabric developments and trims including placements.
- Preparing all conceptual imagery for artwork handover to in-house technical print developer and clear communication of feedback with internal and external print designers during development of prints.
- Sketching and ensuring your unique designs are harmonious with all other stories within the wider collection whilst championing our customer profiles, adhering to option plans, margin expectations, trade insights and guaranteeing that all designs are fit for end use.
- Preparing sketch overview boards, fabric, print and trims for sketch Review meetings with Key stakeholders.
- Responsible for accurate and efficient handover of approved sketches to Tech and PD teams through sketches and imagery, ensuring clear communication of garment construction, proportion, fabric and key design or trim details.
- Traveling to suppliers, vendors and trade shows internationally in order to support specialty fabric and technique sourcing, along with technical development of RTW collections.
- Collaborating and working closely with the Product Development and Tech team to ensure all RTW styles are executed as envisioned.
- Independently refining designs that have not executed as anticipated or adapting designs to company feedback and / or trade insights to improve & strengthen forward collections.
- Responsible for fitting RTW garments with the Tech team, independently or under the guidance of the Senior Designer. Ensuring that samples reflect approved design aesthetic and construction of initial tech drawings, in line with Aje quality standards.
- Reviewing and preparing all SMS for Range Review meetings ensuring that samples presented have been elevated and refined where needed to achieve a successful sign off.
- Managing both inhouse and external garment alterations in preparation of key reviews.
- Achieving all design and development deadlines in adherence with the critical path, prioritizing workflow under the guidance of the Senior Designer & Design Room Manager.
KEY SKILLS
- A strong appreciation, understanding and alliance with the Aje aesthetic.
- A highly creative thinker with an elevated eye and exceptional understanding of luxury design, details, textiles and quality.
- A strong ability to interpret artistic conceptual Briefs into detail oriented, elevated yet commercial collections.
- Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design
- Minimum of 2yrs in similar role, preferably with a Designer led brand.
- Proficiency in design software, advanced sketching, and thorough understanding of textiles, garment construction, fittings and drape.
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience in artwork design and development for embroideries, fabric developments, trims and placements.
