Role Description
The Designer/Product Developer is a central role for leading the creative process and innovation, ensuring the successful execution of Signature, Core, Mini, Sport and Brand Moment categories.
This role operates at the heart of the design team, collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovation, maintain brand integrity and achieve performance goals. With a strong focus on organisation, attention to detail and proactive problem-solving, the Designer/Product Developer oversees critical design timelines, communicates effectively with internal and external partners, and contributes to the continuous growth of the Zulu & Zephyr brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, concept & execute for the following categories: Signatures, Core, Mini, Sport and Moments.
- Create mood and trend reports for each Season to present to team — contributing to the overall direction of Zulu & Zephyr RTW collections.
- Fitting of garments in said categories with Senior Product Developer to ensure comments achieve the highest standard of fit and construction.
- Actively source ideas and innovation around sustainable yarns/ trims
- Work in alignment with/ Monitor & maintain critical path timelines.
- Prepare and organise design handover to Product Developer with all relevant information needed to execute the technical spec, on time in accordance to the critical timeline
- Manage print and fabric submission for said categories – follow up strike-offs and swatches, working alongside Garment Technician.
- Organising courier pickups and drop-offs for both local and offshore
- Work alongside Merchandise Manager to seek relevant information in regards to range matrix, best and worst sellers, opportunities, and threats.
- Manage, organise and execute look-book shoots and ensure all e-comm imagery is achieved, working directly on-site with stylist and photographer for said categories.
- Assist on RTW/mainline lookbook shoots and ensure all e-comm imagery is achieved, working directly with Senior Designer.
- Managing Range Master for naming collection & checking all data for Lookbook layout.
KEY SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in similar design role.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in continuous improvement.
- Ability to effectively influence, engage and develop strong relationships.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of eCommerce best practice, preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of the retail industry and the Australia retail landscape, preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in building a high performance culture.
- Strong numerical acumen with a solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
- Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
- Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.
