Role Description

HoMie is a Melbourne-based streetwear label and social enterprise with two social impact programs – 100% of HoMie’s profits go towards achieving its mission, to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship to equip them with the skills, confidence and experiences to be more work-ready and better prepared for their future. HoMie does so by running two social impact programs. The HoMie Pathway Alliance, HoMie’s own accredited retail training and education paid internship for young people (16- 25) affected by homelessness or hardship; and through HoMie’s monthly VIP Shopping Days, where young people are welcomed into the store to shop complimentary brand-new garments, beauty services, plus lunch with the HoMie team.

We are seeking an experienced evaluation practitioner with an interest in implementing ongoing evaluation approaches, working collaboratively to support program development & program effectiveness, can lead research and written material to support the evidence base of new programs, and work collaboratively to communicate our impact to various audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Social Impact team and HoMie Creative team in the implementation and delivery of the evaluation of the Pathway Alliance and VIP Day Projects, and REBORN. This includes Project managing all aspects of the evaluation from implementing methods and tools, leading data collection and analysis and sense-making with implementation teams, stakeholders, writing evaluation reports and communicating findings .
  • Develop regular progress briefs for HoMie funding partners and HoMie senior staff to inform their communications with key stakeholders
  • Support Social Impact staff members and HoMie managers in other teams, in the development and implementation of evaluations that use intersectional and participatory approaches and methodologies.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team in the development of web-based and social media-based content, media releases and other communications materials relating to program impact and key statistics and research surrounding youth homelessness.
  • Provide timely technical and content advice to HoMie staff regarding evaluation related issues.

 

KEY SKILLS

  • Qualifications in social or political science, Indigenous studies, health promotion, gender studies, evaluation, international development or other relevant area or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of intersectional approaches to the design and implementation of evaluation of social change initiatives.
  • Expertise in evaluation including demonstrated ability to develop theory of change and developmental, participatory and learning focused evaluation approaches and methods to track and analyse progress, support reflection on project improvement and to identify outcomes
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and administer evaluation methods and tools and to manage, analyse and integrate quantitative and qualitative data
  • Strong commitment to ethical evaluation practices including Indigenous data sovereignty and appropriate data collection and management
  • Competence in excel and word
  • Excellent organisational skills, including determining priorities and urgency in a practical way, using goals to guide actions, creating and implementing detailed project plans
  • Ability to manage stakeholder, funder and supplier relationships with attention to detail on deliverables and adhering to internal and external approvals processes
  • Experience in facilitating internal and stakeholder relationships to build engagement in evaluation and collaborative learning processes and commitment to using evaluation findings
  • High level analytical, written and verbal skills in communicating complex data to a variety of audiences including capacity to develop accessible communication products
  • Oral presentation skills, especially in distilling and conveying key messages to different audiences
  • Demonstrated passion for evaluation and implementing evaluation approaches that support project improvement
  • Commitment to HoMie’s vision and organisational values
  • Commitment to working collaboratively and respectfully in a small organisation, with a persevering style and ability to meet tight deadlines and work productively with limited supervision
