As part of the Design & Production team, the Garment Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support throughout the garment production process, from Prototypes to Shipment Samples. In this role you will work collaboratively to ensure all garments are produced to a high-quality standard with a strong focus on fit and excellence in workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Production & Design team to ensure smooth product development
- Assessment of each garment, ensuring they meet design and technical specifications throughout each stage of production
- Effectively issue fit, construction and quality comments to suppliers, ensuring these align with brand expectations
- Maintain consistency of sizing and quality across multiple suppliers
- Troubleshoot technical and production issues adhering to the critical path
- Conduct risk assessment on each style, providing recommendations on fabric testing, care label and/or the inclusion of disclaimer tags
- Conduct bulk quality control assessments
- Support store and customer care teams on quality and/or garment care related inquiries
- Assessment of faulty stock and support with supplier claims
- Support management of block library and standards for each category
- Support Senior Garment Technician with seasonal fit reviews
- Establish strong and effective working relationships with multiple suppliers
KEY SKILLS
- 3-5+ years experience in a Garment Technician / QA role
- Tertiary qualification in Fashion or Textiles
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, specifications, pattern making, grading and quality assurance
- Multiple product experience required
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in working with offshore suppliers and factories
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills to adhere to critical path deadlines
- A collaborative and team orientated approach
- Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Programs
