Shona Joy

Pattern Maker

company: Shona Joy
job title: Pattern Maker
location: Rosebery
work type: Full-time
level: Mid-level
closing: 29.08.2022

Role Description

Founded by Shona Joy Thatcher in 2000, the Shona Joy brand is powered by a passionate close-knit team, grounded by a mutual love of designing for real women, creating dresses for celebrating life in and building a business we can all be proud of.

Our collections embody a neutral colour palette and natural fabrications that signify a clear Australian identity – always with a hint of our signature 70s bohemian glamour. In remaining true to the Shona Joy aesthetic, our collections don’t generally follow the trends of the season. We don’t believe in disposable fashion, with a mission to design the pieces that will be treasured as part of your wardrobe forever – striving to create pieces that transcend any season, occasion, day or evening and look just as glamorous in heels or bare feet.

To support our growth, we’re looking for a passionate Pattern Maker to join us in our newly expanded head office in Rosebery, Sydney. Reporting to our Head of Design, the successful candidate will be working as part of the Design team and will be responsible for providing the patternmaking function for each collection.

  • Work closely with HOD to create initial patterns for each collection
  • Ensure the design sheet is maintained with regular updated information based on design brief and pattern
  • Provide accurate yield estimates for each pattern by creating mini markers for each style

  • Provide all patternmaking information for teck pack, including final update to design sheet, make sheets notes and size specification
  • Attend all production fits, recording any changes or comments back to factory through to PPS approval stage
  • At PPS approval stage ensure any changes to Teck Pack including design sheet, make sheets and specification chart are all accurately updated and issued back to the factory by due date.
  • Ensure at all times that key dates set on the critical path for initial Teck Pack handover and fit approval comments are adhered to throughout the production fit approval process to ensure the factory can commence bulk production by the due date
  • Provide ongoing support to the production team as and when queries arise relating to pattern/ fit/ construction or quality issues.
  • Work closely with the Design Coordinator to ensure all key dates are adhered to through the range SMS process.
  • Ensure approved SMS samples are all measured prior to range handover meetings with Production
  • Ensure all key dates set on the production CP for Teck pack handover, fit approval and PPS approval are being met
