Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Jewellery Designer to cover a maternity leave position.
The purpose of this position is to design for Oroton brand across selected categories with a focus on women’s jewellery and sunglasses. Reporting to the Head of Design, this position will be responsible for creating product design and for continued innovation in design, products and process.
The successful candidate will have key relationships with the design team, production team and merch teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Concept creating for Oroton brand, focus on women’s jewellery
- Product scope includes: women’s jewellery mainline and sister brand (outlet)collections, as well as sunglasses.
- Product scope may vary at any time when categories are expanded or updated.
- Design and Spec creation for tech pack, briefing P1 sample to suppliers
- Day to day supplier follow up and communication
- Costing, P1 to P2 sample, and updating reporting systems
- Reviewing P1, P2 and PP with design team
- Approving PP sample to proceed to production, adhering to strict quality standards
- Training retail teams on jewellery and sunglasses knowledge, focused on product education, writing copy and producing design mood and process insights
- Presenting collection for merch team to buy, preparing all required costings and documents
- Following up and samples and send dates
- Working closely with the design team, including Creative Director, Head of Design, Designer, and Design Assistant
- Ensuring reporting design systems are maintained and correctly updated
- Ensuring timelines / deadlines are met and adhered to
- Offshore supplier liaison to follow up on orders, samples, other items as required
- Working closely with other areas of the business such as production, graphic design, technical and various other stakeholders to support the business to meets its objectives
KEY SKILLS
- Tertiary education in a creative field – fashion, design, graphics or equivalent
- Creative skills and knowledge to be able to contribute to discussion and planning
- Excellent up to date trend knowledge and interpretation
- Great sketching ability
- Demonstrate maturity in demanding situations
- Excellent technical understanding of jewellery materials and construction
- Ability to handle high volume work load and meet all deadlines
- Outstanding time management and problem-solving skills
- Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe creative suite
- Must be highly proficient in Illustrator & Photoshop
- 3/4 years’ previous jewellery design experience in similar role
- Experience in accessories design is highly regarded
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in information management
- Solution focused mindset that sees problems as challenges to be resolved
