Role Description
As the Chief Sub-editor at MECCA, you will be working across all customer touchpoints of MECCA, ensuring our brand voice is consistent and that we are sharing our brand, customer and teams’ stories in a clear, compelling way. Our customers will read your every word as you sub edit everything from store signage to digital. You will be integral in workflow through editorial, campaign and service projects in content. This role is a 9-month fixed-term contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure brand voice is consistent across all MECCA copy and content
- Subbing, proofreading and fact-checking all copy: store signage (promotional, core and service), website (homepage, landing pages, editorial content, functional), weekly emails, videos and apps
- Editing copy to fit to space as well as for clarity and relevancy
- Improving on-site editorial stories with tagging, alt text and metadata
- Writing clever, commercial, clear and concise subject lines for all media channels
- Checking on staging to daily and weekly deadlines
- Managing copy approval within Content team and broader stakeholders
- CMS: responsible for proofing and signing off marketing content on site in collaboration with Content team
- DAM project managing implementation and ongoing management in collaboration with Marketing Process and Operations team
- Project managing CMS and DAM systems and implementation
- Liasing with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure correct and accurate copy
- Working with product and front end developers on digital projects
KEY SKILLS
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in a sub-editing role
- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, English literature or similar
- Outstanding organisational and planning skills with the ability to multitask effectively, manage timelines and meet deadlines
- Ability to partner with and manage cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and tactical execution with a resourceful, can-do attitude
- An understanding and interest in digital retail, digital content, beauty, fashion and trends
- A passion for words and grammar
- Ability to think on your feet and to project manage other teams to ensure workflow is consistent
- Technically fluent with a quick-to-learn attitude for new IT systems
- Experience in CMS and DAM systems will be beneficial
- Skilled in writing web-friendly copy using best-practice SEO principals
