6 things that were never cool in 2015

Bye Felicia.

We understand trends come and go, but some things are just never cool. As 2016 edges closer, it’s time to reflect on some of the more questionable ‘trends’ of 2015, and hope that is the year in which they stay.

1. Lip injections
Turning your average gal into Donatella Versace. After a 700 per cent increase in enquiries for lip fillers after Kylie Jenner admitted to them, it’s safe to say this one was a little overdone.

2. Hashtagging posts with ridiculous made up words
#Squadgoals #LitAF #blessed (OK that one’s real). This was a super annoying habit that plagued Instagram photos from Jan to Dec. We understand Taylor Swift has formed the girl squad of your dreams but that’s no excuse to go and destroy the English language.

3. (Over) contouring
Kween of Kontouring Kim K revolutionised the make-up game as we know it, revealing this beauty trick. But it wasn’t long before defined cheekbones and over-the-top highlighting started to resemble something out of Maleficent. Less is more.

4. Sneaker heels
The ultimate ‘having your cake and eating it too’ style. Is it so hard to commit to one type of shoe.

5. Activewear (activewear)
Had to be mentioned.

6. The claw nail
Super long, pointy and impractical safety risks that were sported by RiRi, Yoncé and just about everyone on the planet, before the shine wore off and you realised you had 10 talons where your fingers were.

It’s easy to get caught up in the fash-pack, but like Pharrell’s hat in 2014, some things are just destined to stay in the year in which they came. Good luck to us all in 2016 and a silent prayer for the trends that won’t be following us into the New Year. It just wasn’t meant to be.
