A guide to this weekend’s Melbourne Finders Keepers market

Mark-et down.

When it comes to markets, Finders Keepers is the crème de la crème. The Melbourne edition of the market sees 250 independent art and design stalls, all housed in the Royal Exhibition Building. Beginning October 14, this year’s spring summer market is said to be the best yet.

Because the whole ordeal can feel a little overwhelming, it’s best to develop a plan of attack. Below are our top picks for the event, so be sure to feast your eyes (and wallets) on the best independent makers going around.

Who: Che Sara
What you’ll find: Che Sara creates a range of scented soy wax candles, 100 per cent linen tote bags, cotton rope baskets, wall hangings and weavings – everything that reminds you of an Italian summer. Each product is crafted using quality materials and ingredients, featuring an extra special personalised touch.

Who: Crative
What you’ll find: Crative is all about turning formally undesirable waste material – think old pallets, used fence timber, steel piping, cast iron framework and scaffold planks – into uniquely designed, beautifully handcrafted and practical up-cycled furniture and for your house and garden.

Who: Eat Creations
What you’ll find: This brand creates the cutest hand-stamped vintage silver-plated cutlery. Each piece has been carefully sourced from around the globe and is perfect for a gift or just to add a little personal touch to your dining table.

Who: Plant by Packwood
What you’ll find: These Melbourne-based terrarium makers create little landscapes for city people who desire a little indoor greenery. Every terrarium is unique and inspired by aspects of nature that we tend to miss while rushing from one closed space to the next.

Who: B. Ties
What you’ll find: B. Ties is a Melbourne-based crafty collaboration that creates bespoke bow ties and bow-shaped adornments. All bow ties are made from new, vintage and custom fabrics, collected from all over the world.

Who: Charlie and Lana
What you’ll find: A brand with a simple concept but the cutest execution. Charlie and Lana make crochet cacti. Out of Gippsland, Victoria, these creations are the perfect plant for the person lacking time – they require no water, can’t die and are made prickle-free.

What: Citizen Wolf
What you’ll find: Citizen Wolf is all about making clothes you want to wear and that actually fit. The brand will fit you on the spot and then custom-make your perfect tee using lasers (it’s all very ~technical~). Alternatively, they’ve pretty much perfected the white tee (thanks to hundreds of fittings and 180gsm organic cotton). It’s handmade and you can nab it on the cheap. Read more about them here.

Because we unfortuantely don’t have all day, you can check out the entire list of stallholders on The Finders Keepers directory.
